Weekly Update: 7.30.23-8.5.23
I'm tweeting my way to a job!
Yes, it’s another week of unemployment, but WE MOVE!
We’re tweeting our way to a job! We’re complaining about publishing foolery on Twitter/”X” to gain connections into the foolish industry! We are coming!
You’re probably confused about this, so let me tell you about what happened in publishing last week.
There was a soft-launch of a new publishing venture called Bindery Books, which fully launches in the fall. The company focuses on influencers and their followers making publishing decisions. This means that influencers without an editorial background gets to be acquiring editors for their own imprints.
I tweeted about my unemployment frustrations (again) in relation to this publishing announcement. Instead of providing a screenshot of my tweet, I’ll link my TikTok video where I provided my thoughts about Bindery Books:
Foolishness!
Time for some non-foolish updates!
Book(s) of the Week
I tried to read Stephen King this week. I picked up 1922 from the library since I knew what happened in the story and wanted to compare the movie to the novella. I’ve seen more Stephen King movies than read his books; this was my first foray into his books because I’ve heard about the issues with his writing.
The main issue showed up on page 4…unprovoked.
That hard R showed up, not even 10 pages into the story, for no reason. I didn’t make it far into the book because that bothered me for 30 pages on.
DNF!
My next library read is Madame Bovary. I didn’t expect it to be as thick as it is, but I hope it will be a worthwhile read.
House of Mirrors
I’m glad that I decided to continue querying my novel. HoM got a full request! I haven’t had many full requests, and this was the first request I’ve had in months. I’m hopeful with this one.
YouTube
The next video will drop soon. It will be an update video and a very late quarterly wrap-up!
Miscellaneous
I think this will be a good week. Cheers to a good week!
See you next Monday!
